Elden LeGaux is dedicated to helping the lives of those around him, and while he knows he can’t be all things to all people, he can use his skills, talents, and experience to help others in need. Elden truly believes that we are all inexorably tied together through the common bond of humanity and that those who have the ability to provide for others in need have an obligation to do so. He understands how damaging it can be to become insular and not engage or give back, forcing people who don’t have what they need to turn to governmental organizations for assistance when hands-on help is just right next door.
Knowing how fortunate he’s been to have led the life he has, Elden recognizes that there are many people out there who aren’t as lucky. He constantly seeks ways that he can best leverage his position and his life to give all children a better life through creating opportunities that they might not otherwise be able to have. He has done this through a “hands on”, grassroots approach to philanthropy, helping people from the bottom up.
Elden LeGaux got his start in philanthropy more than three decades ago; after playing soccer in college, when he had children, Elden decided to capitalize on his love for the sport and for coaching and get involved at the grassroots level. He became involved in an organizational capacity and worked to raise funds for the league, organize, and get people in the community engaged and involved. He served in volunteer roles as Vice President of the Greensboro Youth Soccer Association and as President of the Greensboro Twisters Soccer Club, where in both roles he focused on growing and promoting youth soccer in the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina.
Through business connections and a continued focus on meeting the needs of children, he got involved with the Nat Greene Kiwanis Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, an organization of local leaders focused on bringing the international mission of Kiwanis of making lasting differences in the lives of children to the Greensboro community. Elden’s continuing engagement in fundraising and special events stoked a continued passion for the work of the organization, and he was asked to take on a variety of leadership roles culminating with serving as President of the club.
Currently, Elden Legaux is serving on the Board of Directors of the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation, located in Broward County, Florida.
In his personal life, Elden Legaux is a loving father and husband. He and his wife have three wonderful children with whom they love to spend their free time. Even though they live scattered across the country, they love to travel together and spend time with one another. Elden also loves to cook and is an avid foodie who loves to share his passion and his cuisine with others.
